location
Carlisle Cricket Club is based at Edenside Cricket Ground. The ground is just to the north of the River Eden off the A7, the main road heading north from the city towards Scotland. The entrance to the ground is the first turning to the left after crossing Eden Bridges when heading north. Edenside is within 1 mile of the Citadel Railway Station and the Bus Station. The compact city centre shopping area, with all the major High Street names, is a 10-15 minute walk away. For maps showing the location of the cricket ground click here.
our ground
Cricket has been played at Edenside since 1892 when the current pavilion was built. Nestled, as the name indicates, by the River Eden and surrounded by trees, it is difficult to imaging when watching cricket here that the busy city centre is within easy walking distance.
Picturesque and beautiful are words often rightly used to describe our ground, but perhaps the greatest compliment came from one of England's finest, the late Colin Cowdrey. He said of Edenside, "In my long career, this is one of the most delightful grounds I have ever seen"; a great compliment from a great cricketer and a great man.
Throughout its long history, Edenside has been visited by many famous names, even royalty, and touring Australian, South African and West Indian Test sides have graced us with their play. We are also proud to have hosted numerous representative games. The most recent of these saw a Cumberland Ladies XI take on a Scotland Ladies XI, with the Scottish Ladies victorious.

visitors welcome
The bar in our pavilion is open to Members and Visitors. Totally refurbished after the devastating floods of January 2005, the bar offers a range of draught and bottled beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Admission to the ground is free, so if you wish to enjoy a game of cricket at in a relaxing and friendly setting, please feel free to pay us a visit.
Please note, that in accordance with the new Law, in both the Main Pavilion and the Jimmy Little Pavilion, Carlisle Cricket Club operates a strict No Smoking Policy. For more information on this new Law click here.
The club pavilion is also available for hire for private functions. Please click here for contact details.
